Take your materials to a local Post Office or Court Clerk to have your identity verified by an official Acceptance Agent. We will schedule this appointment for you once your items are ready. 

4. Drop Off or Ship Your Application: Hand-carried processing.

Deliver or ship your sealed government envelope straight to our office. Our registered courier team will hand-carry it into the agency, and your new passport will ship back to you in 1–3 business days.

Emergency Passport Requirements

1) Photocopy of Valid Driver's License or State ID Front and Back

  • If your ID was issued in the last 6 months or is expired, provide at least two additional IDs.

2) Evidence of Citizenship - (Must provide 1 of the following)

  • Fully valid, undamaged U.S. Passport (can be expired)
  • Original or certified copy of your U.S. birth certificate
  • Certificate of Naturalization

3) Passport Fees - (Check or Money orders only made payable to the U.S. Department of State.)

  • $212.05 payable to the U.S. Department of State for a new 10-year passport book

-OR-

  • $242.05 payable to the U.S Department of State for passport book and passport card
  • The fee includes 1-2 shipping ($22.05) directly from the Philadelphia Passport Agency

4) Passport Photos(CVS, Walgreens, Staples, Post office, or Clerk's office)

  • In color
  • No glasses
  • Taken within the last 6 months
  • In front of plain white or off-white background
  • Neutral facial expression with both eyes open
  • Religious Head wear you will need a Signed Statement
  • Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the crown or hairline

5) Travel Itinerary - (Print 2 copies)

  • Your name must be on travel documents.
  • Print your confirmation flight itinerary, emailed to you by your travel provider.
  • Hotel reservations, Airbnb, or Print Driving Itinerary and complete (only for driving across the border) 
  • Business travelers’ letter from the employer on company letterhead stating emergency passport needs.

Step 2: In-Person Identity Verification

To meet government requirements, you must verify your identity in person:

  1. Visit an Acceptance Facility: Take your completed application and required documents to a local Post Office or County Clerk.

  2. Witnessed Signature: An official agent will verify your identity and witness you signing the application.

  3. The “Sealed” Envelope: The agent will place all your documents into a secure, official government envelope and seal it.

    • CRITICAL: Once handed to you, do not open this envelope. If the seal is broken, the passport agency will reject the application.

  4. Send to Us: Immediately ship or hand-deliver this sealed envelope to Prompt Passport Services so our couriers can hand-carry it to the agency for expedited processing.
